What Anima is

Anima is a haptic-guided breathing app for iPhone and Apple Watch. A gentle pulse rises and falls with your breath, so you can follow the rhythm by feel — eyes closed, no counting. Optional sound and a breathing sphere run off the same shared timing, and completed sessions log mindful minutes to Apple Health.

Anima supports general relaxation and mindfulness. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. See the Terms of Service for full health and safety guidance.

Common questions

I can't feel the haptics.
Check three things. In Anima's settings, make sure Haptic Intensity isn't set to Off — try Full. On Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone → Sounds & Haptics and confirm Haptic Strength isn't at its lowest. Finally, the Watch needs to be snug on your wrist; a loose band mutes the pulse.

My session doesn't show up in Apple Health.
Anima only logs mindful minutes for sessions you complete, and only if they run at least 60 seconds — sessions you end early aren't written. If completed sessions still don't appear, check Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Anima and confirm Mindfulness writing is allowed.

Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Anima works fully on iPhone on its own, with haptics and full-screen visuals. If you have an Apple Watch, you get an eyes-closed, screen-free session on your wrist, and your settings stay in sync across both.

My settings aren't syncing between iPhone and Watch.
Syncing needs both devices paired and nearby with Bluetooth on. Open Anima on both — settings sync when the apps are running. If it's still stuck, force-quit Anima on both devices and reopen.

Is Anima free?
Yes, from version 1.3. Every feature is free on iPhone and Apple Watch, with no trial, no subscription and nothing to unlock. Anima is part of our mission, and it stays free because people choose to support it. If you have an earlier version, update Anima once 1.3 is in the App Store. Earlier versions start with a 7-day free trial and then offer a one-time lifetime purchase; see "I subscribed or bought Anima before it was free" below.

How can I support Anima?
From version 1.3, on iPhone, open Anima's Settings and tap Want to show support? at the top. From there you can Buy me a coffee (an optional tip), leave feedback on the App Store, or join the newsletter. A tip is a one off in app purchase through Apple. It unlocks nothing; every feature is already yours. You can tip as often as you like.

I subscribed or bought Anima before it was free. What happens now?
From version 1.3 nothing is locked, so you lose nothing. If you bought lifetime access, there is nothing to do. If you have a monthly or yearly subscription from Anima 1.0, it is billed by Apple and may keep renewing until it is cancelled. Cancel it any time without losing anything: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Anima, then Cancel Subscription (or open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions). If you were charged after Anima became free, ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, and email us so we know.

On an earlier version and got a new device?
In versions before 1.3, open Anima's Settings and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought with. From version 1.3 there is nothing to restore: every feature is free.

Can I get a refund?
Tips and past purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but email us anyway if something went wrong. We would like to know.

What data does Anima collect?
Nothing from version 1.3. Your breathing sessions never leave your device, and there is no account. Earlier versions include an optional feedback form; see the Privacy Policy. From 1.3, Anima only goes online when you ask it to: to leave a tip (handled by Apple), or to open the community board, the newsletter or the App Store. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

I have a feature request or found a bug.
Post it on the Anima community board, or tap Request a feature or point out a bug at the top of Anima's Settings on iPhone. Others can vote on it there, and you'll see when it ships. Prefer email? Write to aziza@alterras.app. Anima is made by one person, and requests genuinely shape what gets built next.
